jobless in the city

I was laid off on Friday and yesterday was my first day as a stay-at-home wife. I did a pretty good job. Slept in till 10:30, cleaned, grocery shopped, cooked, read and relaxed. To be honest it was boring and weird.

Once it feels less strange I plan to do lots of rad things to fill my free time. Obviously my main goal is to find a new job. After that I'll do a lot of crafting, start my etsy shop, go to museums, hang out in the park, cook new types of foods, organize our apartment to get ready for the move. Oh, the other big thing... we need to find a new apartment. I'm a little worried about getting accepted for a place while I'm unemployed, but I'm sure it will all work out. It has to.

Right now I'm sitting on the bed while George naps. I guess there could be worse ways to spend my time.

heaven is...

spring is here!

We had such a rad weekend! Saturday was such a beautiful day, 75 and sunny. We took a picnic to Central Park and walked around a bit. The park was super crowded with happy people. I love that about the city. When the weather is nice everyone is in a good mood and outside, it's awesome to feel a part of that. After the park it was birthday fun day at the Boat Basin with Ryan and then Williamsburg with Jennifer. A long, but super fun day.

My phone and camera are broken so no rad pictures of leaves on trees, but believe me they are amazing!

Brian took this photo this week while I've been in LA. I'm really looking forward to going home to this! Plus I really miss Brian and George.

Awesome Buskers in Union Square Station

Brian and I headed over to Brooklyn on Saturday to watch some basketball with Jennifer and Trinity. While we waited for the L in Union Square we saw these awesome buskers (Brian snapped the photo). They sounded great and put a huge smile on everyone's face. It's stuff like this that makes me really love living in NY.

When we got onto the train we were trying to guess how much money they make for a couple hours work. We gave them a buck and saw probably 10 other people drop some bills in their case. So Brian was saying $500 in one day. I think that could be about right and they deserve every penny of it!

I'm starting an Etsy shop this weekend! I need a name. Any suggestions? I'll be selling all the crafty crap I like to make. Cross stitches, stuffed animals, quilts, bags, etc.

that didn't take long

Been home 1.5 hours. Already had some cookies and now drinking a beer. Oops.

day 3.5

I cheated a little bit last night and had some hot chocolate. But I figure that is way better than beer and cookies. And I was thinking, is it okay if I make oatmeal cookies? Oatmeal is good for you, right? We can just pretend that all the sugar is like a magical good-for-you sugar.

Also, there is a rasta guy that unloads shipments at the grocery store by our place. Every morning when I walk by him he says "good morning. peace and love." I love that. It's such a nice thing to hear on your way to work.
