Levi and Shannon just bought this rad house in Sacramento. They live on a cool street w/ a ton of trees and cool neighbors. The new house has a HUGE lot, a pool and spa. I'm so jealous!!

Last night Brian and I went to a test screening of Lars and the Real Girl! It was a great movie!! A really great movie!! We laughed and cried. You should definitely go see it when it comes out in theaters, which I think is in November. Don't forget about it!!
Since this website is basically bitching grounds for me I must say one thing that sucked about the movie...all of the talkers and hot dog eaters sitting next to us. Brian almost lost it half way through the movie. The girls next to him talked the ENTIRE time. And what is it with the hot dogs? Why don't they eat candy? Are they really that hungry?!

I heart unorganized airports, delayed flights and drunk spring break bound college kids. What an awesome end to an awesome week!

The Tournament of Books has begun again on The Morning News Check it out because this shit is fun! And too top it off Colin Meloy is a judge this year.
I also must mention that a few of the books in previous tournaments have been some of mine and Brian's favorite books. Namely The History of Love and Cloud Atlas.

Putting aside our president, a stupid war, my dad still smoking after two heart attacks, and fundamentalist christians that insist on putting up signs along the freeway and on their cars...there is nothing I hate more than Pasadena parking!
We are not allowed to park in front of our house between the hours of 2am and 6am. We have to get a parking permit to do so. Brian applied for a permit a couple of months ago and they denied him. It's such bullshit. We live in a duplex, which means we only have half of a driveway. Enough space for one car. But according to Pasadena we need to park in the garage. And if we want to store stuff in the garage instead of park we need a permit just for that. SUCH BULLSHIT!!!
So this morning I went to the parking office to try to get a permit for my car. I explained to the guy that we live in a duplex and only half of the driveway is ours. He didn't care. He didn't type it into the form. So I know that when they drive by to inspect our property and make sure that we need a permit... (how ridiculous is it that they actually inspect? and not to mention that we'll have to pay for the permit so why don't they just give it to us?) they are going deny us again, thinking that we can park in the driveway.
Don't worry, folks, we can appeal the decision! But to appeal we have to pay $100. Can you fucking believe that? To park in front of our own house. In a residential neighborhood with plenty of street parking!
Needless to say, I'm a tad emotional. So when I heard this story on NPR this morning I started balling. It's about an air traffic controller who saved two planes from colliding 35,000 feet up in the air. It's a cool story and made me feel a little better.

Yesterday was beautiful! I left work early for a doctor's appointment so I actually got to experience a day outside of downtown. The air was so clear and the mountains looked gorgeous. It really gives you a taste of what life would be like in a city with no smog. It's my favorite sort of day. Brisk, clean and bright. I love the end of winter, beginning of spring. Today isn't so bad either, though you can see the smog starting to hover.
(I won't mention the mini shopping spree I went on after the doctor. Something about the combo of a bad day but really cool weather makes me crave some retail therapy.)
I felt so inspired by the day that I started teaching George how to sew. He's really helpful. Especially when I had Dom's quilt laid out on the floor to pin. George did a great job of making sure that it was secure. He laid right on top of it. But he was extra cute when he sat on the table and very intensely watch the machine sew. And now Dom's quilt is almost done. I just need to quilt it and sew on a border. It only took 1 1/2 years...
end note...I can do 5 pushups! You read right...5, two over my goal. Probably more but Brian doesn't count them unless I touch my nose to the ground. (can you tell that he grew up in a military family?) Last night at the gym I did 5 with my nose touching the ground. Goddamn, I'm buff.
