So I joined a gym about a month ago. I've been working out with Aja and Wendi. It's really cool to have workout partners, especially when they're as out of shape as you. No offense, ladies. Wendi mentioned that she wanted to start swimming. There are a couple of gyms w/ pools in the city. So we went to went to buy suits, goggles and caps. We ended up getting matching suits...so cute! And with matching suits our swim team was born. Kristie helped us name it, Hudson River Honeys.
The HRH's had their first practice last week. It was rough. Way more hard than I thought. But then we kept at it and swam a couple days later. That session went great. I even did a 50 of fly! Thank god there are no video cameras in the pool. We've been really good about pushing ourselves and trying new strokes. We use the boards to kick and the leg floaty things, which I'm sure have proper name, to work our arms.
It's really fun. The best part has to be the reaction of swimmers/lifeguards when we walk into the pool w/ matching suits. We look HOT!!!!
Speaking of hot...it's scorching today!
And no... I will not be posting photos of the Hudson River Honeys anytime soon.

random rant
Today I am lonely, and I'm not even alone in the office. I miss my friends. a lot. I had a nice lunch by myself in Bryant Park. The sun is out and I as trying to get tan. There was a girl fighting with her ex on the phone. I love listening to other peoples conversations. She was really mean. I would have broken up with her too. I feel so fat I almost started crying today. So I called the gym to make an appointment with a personal trainer.
ps...if you haven't started watching "Flight of the Conchords" I highly suggest you do it now.

It's Summer on the East Coast.
Brian and I went up to Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada over the weekend. I had never been to Canada. It looks like the US but it's Canada. The Falls were amazing! So powerful.
We were there for my dad's wife's family reunion. There was a lot of kids there which was good because I needed some kid therapy. One of them in particular, was extra cute. He liked to eat spaghetti off the floor.
My dad was hilarious the whole weekend. Our border chick was a total bitch. She set my dad off to complete hate the French. Brian tried pointing out that Ontario is not French Canada, but my dad didn't care. My favorite line "why do the french need a tank?" my dad's answer, "they need something to hide in"
Here he is in mid french-bashing
Niagara-on-the-Lake is a cute little touristy town. There are a ton of wineries and (obviously) vineyards in the area. They specialize in ice wine. Brian and I stopped for a little taste

They have casinos in Canada. In fact, if the waterfalls weren't so amazing I would hate Niagara Falls because it's one big tourist circus. I hate stupid tourist people, even if I am one of them. But I digress. Going to the casino with East Coasters is odd because they don't have easy access to Vegas. One of them didn't even know how to play a slot machine...weird. Brian and I do though...

We got back yesterday afternoon in time to go see The Decemberists in Central Park at Summerstage. It was awesome, a perfect night. We're like so NY.
This pic is when Colin Meloy got everyone in the audience to act like they were sleeping on the ground.

Blame Canada!
We're in Niagara Falls. It's really pretty and stormy. A nice break from the hot weather in NY. Guess what Brian is doing? Playing on his iphone...duh!

Well BFFL,
The reason I didn't post about your visit is because I hadn't downloaded the pics yet, all 3 of them. hahaha...
So, ya'all. Dan, Cesca and Tori came to New York for a family reunion. After spending a few days with some crazy kids in Albany, they headed to our place. It was cool having them here. We fit a lot better in our tiny apartment than I thought we would. We didn't do anything terribly exciting, we were all exhausted. But we did go to Yankee stadium for a game, though we couldn't get tickets. So we just ate instead. I think Cesca and Dan's favorite part of the trip was getting lost on the subway for 1 1/2 hours. My favorite part of their trip was seeing my best friend.

Then after they left Cesca and Dan sent flowers to thank us. It was such an awesome surprise. Though I did feel bad for the delivery guy that had to carry the vase up the stairs, but sorry about it guy!
George loves to eat flowers....meow!

This is going to be a long one...
I've pretty much sucked at this whole posting thing lately.
We went to Shorthills, NJ for my Nana's funeral. Everything was beautiful. She would have loved it. And she would have especially loved being the center of attention.
here's a pic of my mom and her brothers and sister.
After Shorthills, Carrie came to stay with Brian and I for a couple of days. We went to Brooklyn to see Superchunk play. It was rad. Brian was so stoked. Carrie fell in love with New York. duh, who wouldn't? She took a double decker bus tour and melted in the sun, but loved it. We took her to dinner in the East Village and hung out in our hood.

I went home for my cousin, Davis', wedding a couple of weeks ago. It was really nice. He was super nervous, it was cute. The wedding was at the glass church in Palos Verdes and the reception was at the Japanese Gardens in Cal State. Beautiful settings. Some of my fav pics.

We hung out with Wendi, Aja, and Jason on the 4th of July. It was fun. We at Rue-B in the East Village, then got drinks at a German bar on the lower east side. Hefeweizen is yummy. Really yummy. So are pretzels. Then we headed to Jason's place in Stuyvesant Town to drink beer and watch fire works over the East River. It started raining just as we headed outside, but that didn't stop the celebration for America! Oh yeah, and Brian and Wendi madeout.

Brian and I went for a rad bike ride last Sunday. We rode down to Batterypark City and had lunch at Kitchenette. It was yummy. They have the best pink lemonade and deserts. It was really cool to ride along the water. There were so many people out and about, laying out on the grass. I need to join them because I'm white as hell. I don't have any pics. But I do have a map of our route. check it out on My Google Maps. Yeah, I said Google. Brian okayed it.
